Abstract

In addition to theoretical background information on the importance of hearing for language acquisition and the expansion of language skills, this article presents the results of an evaluation of N = 32 users of the so-called “Hörminute”, which is part of a larger study on listening education in primary schools. The question of the extent to which the goals of the “Hörminute” can be achieved was of particular interest. The evaluation results show that by using the “Hörminute” a noticeable improvement in the pupils’ listening skills could be observed by almost all of the surveyed educators, which corresponds to the main goal of the “Hörminute”. In addition, an increase in attention, an expansion of vocabulary and an improvement in communication skills could be observed by the teachers in the classroom, among other things.

The article concludes with an outlook on a further interest in knowledge in the context of a follow-up study.
