The article focuses on the connectivity of “Sachunterricht” in upstream and downstream educational levels in the domain of (socio-)economic education, taking the federal state of Baden-Württemberg as an example. The starting point for the investigation is the curriculum “Sachunterricht” for primary school, which is analyzed with regard to (socio-)economic content areas. The results are related to the orientation plan “Bildung und Erziehung in baden-württembergischen Kindergärten und weiteren Kindertageseinrichtungen” and to the educational plan for the subject “Wirtschaft/Berufs- und Studienorientierung” in lower secondary school. Using a subject didactic approach that focuses on the central content and educational fields, it is shown whether and to what extent there is connectivity and thus a cumulative build-up of knowledge is possible. A summary of the central results and the presentation of possible recommendations for action conclude the article.
