Climate change and climate protection are topics that cannot only be located in the subject of science in primary school. In order to meet the requirements of the curriculum as well as the demands for a basic scientific education, knowledge should be conveyed, awareness strengthened and sustainable behavior initiated. In contrast to concrete and vivid topics such as plants and animals, climate change and climate protection are abstract topics for students of this age group. Access via children's literature therefore seems sensible for several reasons. In our article we also want to investigate which children's books on the topics of climate change and climate protection seem suitable for teaching from a technical and German didactic point of view. It is also important to show how the selected books can be used in teaching at primary level.
