Abstract

The article inquires into forms and functions of un/doing dis_ability in picture books from a literary and cultural studies perspective, drawing on P. Mecheril’s understanding of diversity and the analytical arsenal of literary disability studies. The exemplary analysis of four contemporary picture books which (at least at first sight seem to) address the topic of dis_ability is complemented by reflections on the selection of picture books for diversity sensitive literature classes.
