In an international context, German-speaking dual education systems are often regarded as a model for vocational training, ensuring high quality education through the combination of learning sites while also promoting integration into society and the labour market. However, transferring structural elements to other education systems is not without its problems, as shown in this example, in which core elements of the dual system were to be transferred to the education system in Kazakhstan. Against the backdrop of international vocational training research, this article addresses the question of the potential and limitations of a system transfer.
