Abstract

Schools, especially vocational schools, are a place for individual and collective
learning. School time is a long and compulsory educational phase in every person’s
life and, in addition to acquiring skills, enables students to develop sustainably in their
social environment in terms of values and norms. Educational institutions play an
important role in the transformation to a sustainable society. In order to be able to do
justice to changing job profiles, work processes and requirement profiles, sustainable
education needs to be more intensively anchored in the vocational school system.
This article presents the results of a literature search on achieving the sustainability
goals from the perspective of the (vocational) school system and the results of a
survey of students of the part-time bachelor’s degree programs “Dual Training and
Technology & Trade (DATG)”, “Subject-relevant Studies Supplementary Studies
(FSES)” and “Education, Education and Development Support” for the academic years
2021/22 and 2022/23 are presented.
